Niki's review of From Blood and Ash

So ... I really loved Lux from JLA and it will be probably always my favorite alien series (Hot Roswell, anyone? Yes!) and that's why I decided to try this one now.

I started reading this book while being sick and after I went on two rounds of SJM series (yes, two rounds of multiple SJM series), so I was in this mood that nothing will ever compare to ... them (them being Rhys, Aelin, Rowan, Bryce, Hunt, Ruhn, Dorian, Manon, ...).

And because of that I had issues reading it, because it didn't compare ... But these issues showed only as my brain doing stupid comments that this is not like all other series while I kept reading it and enjoying it. So at the end of my brain I had this thought that I should rate it with lower rating, but I couldn't... I couldn't... because I ATE this book and I laughed several times and I loved main characters and it is not fair to give it less than 5, just because I am heartbroken over a pause with other characters. I changed my mind, it is totally fair to give it 3 stars.

I suspected Hawke from the beginning, but I think it should be obvious to anyone ... And that didn't make it less enjoyable to read. What bothered me from time to time were callused hands again and too many comments "so violent". I get it, I get it. But it could be packed a little bit different or with some other context. But maybe it was also that I was reading too fast and everything at once... maybe if I had pauses like normal people, it wouldn't bother me that much.

Anyhow, the journey continues.
