The Reckoning
A dark plot is unfolding and the shadows are drawing closer.
It’s time to prove how Fae you are.
“Everything in this fucking place is a bit much,” I growled.
Because if I boarded the over-analytical train to insanity town, I'd be stuck on it all day
“La- sir?” I corrected half way. Where did that come from? I almost said his first name! “I don't speak French, Miss Vega.” Hilarious.
“Yes, well I can be fun sometimes. Especially when I'm not wearing this suit.”
“I owe you my life,” he breathed and my heart nearly detonated as he pressed his lips to my cheek. “Thank you.”
Lance: What if I don't want it to stop?
“There are no Dragon Professors at the Academy,” Darius said. “So I run these sessions as I’m the biggest and most powerful Dragon here.”
In Solaria blue means royal. And to me, blue means you.
“I’m a big girl, I can make my own terrible decisions,”
“Right, but are you expecting me to call you Draggy D now because I don’t think you can pull it off.”
“Apparently not. So I guess you were just in the middle of jerking off over your Numerology book. Again.”
“Numbers are hot,” I said with a smirk.
“You took Tory Vega home?” I questioned, putting my Atlas down and doing up my shirt. “Are you screwing her?” Please say yes so I can tell you about Darcy.
“What are you, my fucking critic or my friend?”
“Both most of the time,” he joked.
I was gonna need a rage detox after spending a night in their company.
Diego caught my arm and led me away, not even noticing Orion there. Because to him it meant nothing. It wasn’t the sky falling down, but to me it felt like every star in the heavens were descending and crashing into the earth around me.
“I’m trying to get Diego Polaris’s saliva off of my girl,” he growled. That sentence did so many things to me it was unreal.
“How could you do that? You nearly gave me a heart attack.”
“To be fair, I nearly gave myself a heart attack, Blue, so can we call it even?”
“I wish we could stay at the funfair together.” I frowned. “Well...I hear another funfair has popped up in my bedroom for the night,” he teased.
“Gemini of air, fire, water, earth, daughter of a king, twin soul and Fae born of ash and fire...it’s time to face The Reckoning.”
“You’ve proved you’re Fae. We don’t intend on underestimating that fact,” Darius snarled. “So enjoy the Lunar Eclipse tonight. It will be the last night of peace between us. But every night after that...when you lay your pretty little heads down on your pillows, I want you to remember we’re coming for you. In the dead of night, at the break of dawn or the fall of dusk. You won’t know when and you won’t know how, but what you will know is that we’re coming. For. You.”
Darius: All members of Ignis House are hereby invited to the Moon Party in Air Cove tonight at sundown. Come ready to party like your house is on fire and someone stole all your clothes. It’s gonna get messy and you’ll all be showing up to represent the hottest House on campus. Attendance isn’t optional. Show up or ship out. - Your humble House Captain.
“Roxy’s not a nice girl,” he said, his gaze fixed on mine, his pupils larger than normal in his endlessly dark eyes. “No matter how pretty she looks in that dress.”
“Suck it up buttercup, she’s just a girl.” Lance grinned at me and I turned my back on him. She wasn’t just a girl though. Not to me. She was the one girl I shouldn’t want, the one I couldn’t have, the one I didn’t need. And yet I did. And everything in my life could be damaged so badly by that need that I’d fought it tooth and claw up until this point.
I’d pushed her for her hatred because a moment of her scorn meant more to me than what it cost. I took her attention whatever way I could get it because all the time it was on me it lit me up and made me burn. And I wanted to burn with her more than I think I’d ever wanted anything in my life.
Roxy Vega, I’m gonna make you mine.
“Why?” I asked slowly, needing his answer like I needed to draw breath. “Because that’s what I do,” he said slowly. “I watch you and hunger for you and ache for you. It torments me like I torment you.”
“There are countless people who would say I’m not allowed to want you,” Darius breathed. “But you make me want to burn the whole world down so that I can claim you for my own.”
“Then we should burn it down,” I agreed.
